“Oh My Son, Remember…” – Letters to Calder on His Mission

Calder!! Here’s my Christmas recap but out of order...starting with most recent: Pic 1 - we made it to COSTA RICA! And what a trek it was! We left on Saturday, Stayed in Minneapolis at Greg and Tara’s house. It was super good to see them. We left this morning (Sunday) early. The flight was delayed. We got to the car rental late and they gave away our van. It took like two hours and we left in two cars and we were starving!!!! McKay drove with me. I was exhausted! Ordered a Diet Coke and Big Mac at McDonald’s. McDonald’s never tasted so good and I hate Mickey Ds! That’s me and McKay after we ordered in the drive through and McKay threw out “dos Big Macs” in his total American drawl. It was hilarious! Pic 2- best part of Christmas was talking to you!! Wow! What a week. We had a surprise visit from Tallon and Kenna on Thursday night, which was so fun. One thing that is for sure about Tallon is that he loves you. He may never write or make huge efforts but he misses you. He mentioned a guy who is going to move in once Blake leaves on his mission...I can't remember his name...but he said that he reminds Tallon of you. And he used these words "he reminds me of Calder but he will never replace Calder!" Anyway, they seemed to be doing really well. It felt like it was going to be really sad for Tallon when Kenna left. My heart kind of hurt for him to lose you, Jackson, Blake and Kenna! He didn't make any mention of serving a mission, not that I expected him to, but it will be lonely for him for sure. Tallon did tell me that Carson was the best to live with and that everyone is frustrated with Blake...surprise, surprise... Apparently Blake has a serious girlfriend. CALDER!!! I have to totally agree with you! Time DOES fly! I feel that each week. I always think I'll write to you in the middle of the week, but Sunday sneaks up so fast! I was talking to Ryan this week and he was saying that he thinks that "Santa Klaus" is going to come to town for you, Meaning that he felt good about Klaus progressing. I love Ryan. They sent you a Christmas card. Did you get it yet? it might be my favorite yet! We've been praying for Rodney, Klaus and the others you are working with. I loved the pics with Crew. That is such an amazing experience to be having together! I'm looking forward to hearing about the hot chocolate zone finding. But what I'm dying most to hear about is TRANSFERS! Isn't it crazy to be in the full swing of Christmas? Things are going fast and furious around here. I am so glad it's Monday and we get to talk again! Lots of great things happened this week. I'll give you a few highlights: MONDAY - we got to talk to you! It was also Henry's last day of piano with Jody...a highlight for us all :) TUESDAY - a blur of Christmas prep. WEDNESDAY - Had a LOOOONG young women's meeting (because my meetings are always LONG!) and did our annual YM/YW Christmas caroling activity, which was actually much better and more fun than usual. We walked our routes this year and it was freezing but more meaningful. THURSDAY - Lunch with Cecily. It was so fun to be with her. We actually ran into Abby Reugner's older sister at Cubbys. She's 9 weeks home MTC going to Tahitti, learned 6 weeks french and now learning 3 weeks Tahitian. She was very interested in you and told me to tell you hi.
