CHRISTMAS is sneaking up!!

CALDER!!! I have to totally agree with you! Time DOES fly! I feel that each week. I always think I'll write to you in the middle of the week, but Sunday sneaks up so fast! I was talking to Ryan this week and he was saying that he thinks that "Santa Klaus" is going to come to town for you, Meaning that he felt good about Klaus progressing. I love Ryan. They sent you a Christmas card. Did you get it yet? it might be my favorite yet! We've been praying for Rodney, Klaus and the others you are working with. I loved the pics with Crew. That is such an amazing experience to be having together! I'm looking forward to hearing about the hot chocolate zone finding. But what I'm dying most to hear about is TRANSFERS! Whatever happens it will be good. I know it. Well things around here were good. Here's some of the highlights: MONDAY: Talking to YOU! Highlight of the week! And finding these Monday meme. Grandpa Jim also performed Scrooge via zoom. It was awesome! FRIDAY: Aunt Janet's 80th birthday! We went to visit her at her window and bring gifts. It was super good to see her. One thing I noticed is that everyone talks about how she's going downhill so quickly but I didn't really see it. She seemed about the same as the last time I saw her in March. She was very sweet. SATURDAY: I went to lunch with Maddie. It was really nice. She's struggling right now. I think I already told you but it's very quiet. She's struggling with an eating disorder. Those things are tricky. Keep her in your prayers. She's going to be ok. It's just tough. Sprinkled throughout the other days was Christmas prep, Christmas cards, Christmas presents, and moving details for Bill and Susan. It's a lot for Grandma and Grandpa Horsley right now. My heart breaks for them but they will be ok. We just got to stop the bleeding. Once the move is over and they can close the chapter on building that house, I think everything will even out. It's just kind of tragic right now. Today was really nice. We made tons of salsa and worked on deliveries. I was worried about making the salsa because so many are worried with Corona but I did it anyway. I still have some more to make tomorrow. We also watched this 2 hour special about the Chosen. It was amazing. I REALLY hope that you get a chance to watch it. You would really like it! We actually didn't get to Come Follow Me with all the extra meetings (bishop's youth council, mission prep and intro to Young Women's/Temple for Gwen) and the 2 hour special. But I had an awesome lesson prepared. I'll share part of it with you. We are definitely going to get to it this week. The part I really wanted to focus on is Moroni 7:12-19. Mormon is teaching us here how we find truth. We often refer to Moroni 10:3-5 as the effective way to find truth, but I've never thought about there being two ways or a great combo of the two. You know the Moroni way: 1) read, 2) Ponder, 3) Ask with a sincere heart. But just a couple of chapters before Mormon explains another way by using our judgement. He teaches that if anything 1)invites, 2) inteices or 3) persuades us to do good, we can know that it is true. Moroni's way places responsibility on the spirit of God and Mormon's way places responsibility on us. In Moroni 7:15 Mormon tells us that it is PLAIN, not hard; persuades not forces. The world wants us to think that good vs. bad is very complicated and it's not. It is very easy to distinguish because we've all been giving the spirit of Christ to know. I love that thought. And I think it's so true. As a missionary I wish I would have known this or could have explained this with scripture. I know you can get an answer to prayer about truth but sometimes you just know, and I think that's what Mormon is saying. Super excited to hear your voice tomorrow. I'm praying for you. And I'm missing you. It's strange not to have you around for Christmas. So many great experiences and memories that you are having and will have....but I'm looking forward to being together again during the holidays - CHRISTMAS 2022!!! Am I right? Thank goodness for the phone calls! Honestly! Keep up the great work. You're doing great things and changing lives. Thank you for serving. I'm so proud of you. Love you TONS! MOM
