It's Beginning To Feel and Look A Lot Like Christmas!
Isn't it crazy to be in the full swing of Christmas? Things are going fast and furious around here. I am so glad it's Monday and we get to talk again! Lots of great things happened this week. I'll give you a few highlights:
MONDAY - we got to talk to you! It was also Henry's last day of piano with Jody...a highlight for us all :)
TUESDAY - a blur of Christmas prep.
WEDNESDAY - Had a LOOOONG young women's meeting (because my meetings are always LONG!) and did our annual YM/YW Christmas caroling activity, which was actually much better and more fun than usual. We walked our routes this year and it was freezing but more meaningful.
THURSDAY - Lunch with Cecily. It was so fun to be with her. We actually ran into Abby Reugner's older sister at Cubbys. She's 9 weeks home MTC going to Tahitti, learned 6 weeks french and now learning 3 weeks Tahitian. She was very interested in you and told me to tell you hi. Later that night Hunter came over to hot tub with us. It was great to catch up. He really seems to be doing better. I'm not sure what is better, but his overall countenance is brighter.
FRIDAY - It was my Dad's 77th birthday. I seriously spent hours (no joke) getting a lunch together to celebrate his birthday. There were all sorts of things that had to be worked out and some stressed people, but it was all worth it. Jay, Lara, Clark, Christine, me and Dad, Kimberly and her kids and Grandma and Grandpa came over to our house. It was a really nice time all together. I love my Dad and I am so grateful for his amazing influence on my life. He really is one of a kind. McKay also went on his date dance with Marley. He seemed to have had a great time. He said that his big incentive to kiss her is so that both you and him would have kissed a girl named Marley. Haha
SATURDAY - McKay and Henry went skiing. The snow was mediocre at best. McKay came home after having a pretty bad crash. Mia and Caleb had to bring in his things. McKay's crash tore off the top buckle of his boot and he was really hurting when he got home. As usual, I went right to work with the things that I know help...I got him some Advil, food, water (which heals all) and an ice pack. He banged up his leg and really hurt his hamstring. After a couple of hours, McKay felt much better. The running joke of today is that once the Advil kicked in and he'd iced his injury for a while and he was feeling better, I said "I knew you were just hungry..." I actually didn't say that but that's the joke. McKay was so mad because he thought I was saying he was faking it. What I actually said was that I knew so food and Advil would make you feel better. But that's not what McKay heard. So now I just keep saying that I knew he was just hungry and not hurt and it fires him up. Haha.
SUNDAY - We've had a busy Sunday...home sacrament meeting, zoom Sunday school, Come Follow Me, watched "The Christ Child" (loved it), made roast, potatoes, broccoli, fruit (yummy) got mad at McKay because he was so distracted with drying/loading the dishes and I told him that doing dishes with Calder was so much faster, watched the Christmas Devotional (also great), watched "A Christmas Story", put the girls to hed, and here we are.
I finally got your Christmas package sent and I am so excited for you to open it! I'm also excited to see what happens with transfers. All of us fasted on your behalf today. My fast was centered around three things for you....1) For your investigators, your success and happiness 2) That your mission president will be inspired when it comes to you and transfers and 3) that you will get to Ukraine soon. I'm sure you've heard about Will Horsley heading to Europe on December 14th and eventually to Berlin towards the beginning of January. We are all very excited about the news. It does feel like another farewell and tugs at your heart strings that he will be so far away. Cecily is a crying mess - surprise, surprise! But it's been emotional for her. I'm sure it will be emotional when we get the same news for you... but we are ready for it, right?!
Well, I hope you had the best week ever. I can't wait to hear all about it. I am so grateful for you and I know that the Lord is very aware of you and your obedient efforts. Hang in there. Keep the faith (go red sox)! All these things will work together for your good. I know it.
Love you tons!
