“Oh My Son, Remember…” – Letters to Calder on His Mission

As you can see....I need a picture of you in some sort of super german looking scene. Alone. Like a flag in the background. Or a scenic scene that looks super german. Remember when you were in Fiji and with the missionaries? Remember in the picture how you and your friends put your shirts over your faces like gubers. Me and Dad were so disappointed because it gave us the impression that you were just over there goofing off. Well, those pictures don't even compare with the latest from Henry. Here he is with the missionaries in a Beer shirt. I'm not sure what else to say. I am not impressed. Did you get the letter I sent you? It was fun to hear from Henry. Happy 4th of July! I've included a ton of pictures but NON from the 4th! I didn't even take one picture! The 4th was a lot of fun. We went to Gma and Gpa Calder's house in Provo for a BBQ. It was just our family, both sets of grandparents (we were able to get Susan and Bill to join us), Jay and Anna. Lara is super sick right now. She had her gallbladder removed and got pneumonia. She's just not very healthy. I feel really badly for her. But we had a great time seeing everyone else. We just sat under the big oak tree and visited with everyone. It was a great day. Later on the 4th we hosted the Warnocks, Gardniers, Blankensteins and Bagleys at our house for a BBQ and swimming. You may not recognize all of these names, but these are the families of Jane and Gwen's friends (Kapri & Covey, Sawyer, Tori, Coco). My pictures are such a joke this week! Really not a great representation of anything important…except dads bday. The one of jane is to show that she no longer has a mother and that she dresses herself. The next couple are of a recent Mormon ad (except we called it FSY ad) activity. It was a red carpet and bishop went all out. It was super endearing but his kids were humiliated! The next is a cute picture that we put in your missionary plaque at the church. Calder! This is going to be in Calder Horsley fashion: **My birthday was great. It was a super busy day but the highlight was definitely talking to YOU! **Graduation is today! We are super excited but running around with our heads cut off because we are putting together the slide show. I've attached one of my favorites I found today with you and McKay. You are such a part of all the pictures I gathered. Makes me miss you... **Seminary graduation on Sunday--YAY! he did it! It was a little dicey towards the end...not gonna lie...I was excusing absences like no other. **Highlight of the week was Monday at the awards ceremony when McKay was honored as a valedictorian. YOu know Dad and I were all sorts of proud. **We do have other kids but it's all about McKay right now. We hope they are alive and well.... Love you so much. How is it Wednesday?!? So excited to talk to you.... It's been a great week. You'd be so proud of me...I went mountain biking a ton. Today I went on BST and I am so proud of myself. There were hairy moments but I made it. Did I tell you that I volunteered to be a ride leader for the DPMS mountain bike team? I'm doing it for Gwen. It's making me face my fears BIG TIME! I have a lot of work to do...but maybe...just maybe...when you get home, I can ride the BST with you? Jane lost her other front tooth. It's a big deal. Do you remember when losts tooths were big deals? She wrote the tooth fairy a note and asked her to bring a barbie instead of money. That girl knows what she wants and she goes for it. Sorry to report the tooth fairy only brought money... I had the opportunity to go to the Provo City Center Temple on Friday and it was amazing. So much fun to be in that type of pioneer temple.
