DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS

So you made it! Woohoo! Our thoughts are constantly going to “what time is it right now for Calder” or “what do you think Calder is doing right now” or “Calder is probably getting ready for bed right now” or “I wonder if Calder is studying his language - is someone quizzing him?” Yesterday (Monday) was an emotional day after we said goodbye. We cried many tears of joy and thanksgiving for all the many blessings we’ve been given. You were a rockstar at the airport. So poised and excited. So ready! This morning (and last night) Dad and I Stayed on our regular schedule. When we woke up, we both thought “today will be a good day. No more crying. Time to get things done.” When we walked to the end of the driveway, Emma Westwood was just leaving on her bike ride and she asked “where’s your missionary? Did he leave?” And we were fighting back the tears as we talked to her. We pulled it together and got to the park with wild scout and reminisced about doing this with you and when we rounded the corner and came around to the basketball courts, Dad was in tears. We snapped this pic. All is well. We love and miss you but this is all part of the plan. We are dying to hear all about the last couple of days, your companion, the mission president, etc. Take good notes. Have a wonderful day and get swoll. You are in my thoughts and prayers and you are DEEP IN THE HEART OF YOUR MOTHER (and Texas 😊) Love you tons! MOM 😘

Dear Calder.... I'm finally getting to my letter. Whoa...it's been a busy last week for me, but first....the pics: Pic #1- the newly engaged couple. We are fans of Kylie. And Eth is such a great one. I know this process has been really difficult for Chad and Cec, but she's a keeper. I think it's just tricky to pave the path and Ethan is just a bit of a spacer and so he's really put Cecily in some awkward situations. I think hearts can be healed and hurts can be mended, but it's going to take some time to let go and give it to their Savior. They will all get there. Eth and Kylie came over for hot coco before they walked to the park. I felt so honored that we were included like that. This pic was taken when they returned. So fun. So happy. I'm excited. The Wedding

Well, it happened. Ethan got married. We missed you like crazy! It was such a classic Ethan! First of all, he had a forest green suit. Kylee chose super earthy colors, so Ethan got into it and wore a super snazzy green suit. It was hilarious. The wedding started on Friday at 2pm. It was one of the best sealing ceremonies that I've ever been to. The sealer was one of our favorites that we've gotten to know through the years at the temple. The wedding was a little discombobulated though because we went to the temple, took pictures and then we had to wait until the next day at 2pm in Provo to celebrate. So, we went to Cafe Trang after the temple with our family and Gma, Gpa, Hunter and Tyler. Then they came over on Friday night. It was really nice of Tyler to come up for the wedding. When we were sitting in the temple it was so strange. I was looking around wondering where everyone was. It was just me and Dad there supporting Chad and Cec...no other family members ...

Deep In the Ice Fields of Texas!

I mean...the damage I'm seeing is for REAL! Wow! I am so excited to hear more details from you tomorrow. What a crazy turn of events in Texas. I hope you've weathered the storm and have had opportunities to serve and help those around you. As far as the Draper Horsley clan goes...everyone seems to be doing well.. McKay got his ACT score back this week. He did great and I am super proud of him. He took it without much studying. We never pulled the BYU ACT study class together and when I finally got in touch with Cara, so encouraged us to sign up for the February 6th date, even though it was just a couple of weeks away. McKay met with Cara a handful of times and got a 32. I think he feels good about it. I'll send a pic of his score breakdown. Now we just need to get him on the BYU bandwagon. He's pulling a bit of the Calder "BYU is kind of dumb" thing right now. I think he'll figure it out... Henry is keeping things upbeat and silly. He...
