The Pacific Has No Memory...
That was the quote I was trying to remember from Shawshank Redemption....so it literally had nothing to do with anything - hah! I have such a great memory for movie quotes...it's like me and Ty are on the same level.
It was so super great to talk to you on Thursday, I hope you were able to let go of some of the pent up feelings inside and that your week has been fabulous! We've been praying for you guys. If nothing else, remember that the Lord loves effort.
I was thinking about you so much on Monday. I've been trying to go on more hikes lately because our girls camp and trek are going to be quite physical. I knew it was going to snow this week in Draper (which it did...it seriously dumped) and I wanted to get my hike in. So, although it was cold and windy, I put on some warm clothes and grabbed my earphones. I quickly hiked to the suspension bridge and loved listening to conference along the way. My favorite talk was Elder Ballard. I'm sure you heard this but it really hit me.
"To the missionaries currently serving, we thank you. Your mission has been during a worldwide pandemic. As a result, your mission experience has been unlike my mission experience or the experiences of any missionaries who served before 2020. I know it has not been easy. But even during these difficult times, the Lord has had a work for you to do, and you have done it wonderfully well. For example, you have used technology in new ways to find those who are ready to learn about the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As you have served diligently and according to your abilities, I know that the Lord is pleased with your effort. I know that your service will bless your life."
I think you should read this quote often. He's exactly right. I too know that the Lord is pleased with your effort and that your service will bless your life. It for sure hasn't been easy but you've really kept an optimistic attitude and continued to press forward. I think that's very admirable.
As for this week's highlight...
Lance Andrewsen got his mission call to Taiwan and leaving September 5th. It was hilarious because Ashlynn printed out his call and put in a couple extra calls. The first one said he was called to Las Vegas (one place he really didn't want to serve) and one that said he was called to serve in Gotham City speaking the Christian Bale language. Lance almost lost his mind! It was one of the best mission call openings ever!
I included some pics of our final days on the cruise. We literally had the most beautiful, warm sunny days the entire trip until we arrived in Coco Cay. It was so rainy when we got there that we had to wait to get off the ship. The day was fun but it wasn't the "perfect day" to be honest. But it was still fun.
I was happy to get home. The trip was fun. We missed you. We will definitely make it all up!
I am heading to St George on Thursday afternoon for a girls trip with my Mom, sisters, Lara and our girls. It should be a lot of fun. Grandma's bday is on Sunday (Easter). It should be a lot of fun. I am really looking forward to it.
I love you! Have a wonderful couple of days until we talk on Thursday. Keep on going! You're doing great things. The end is creeping up. No regrets! The Lord is grateful for your hard work and effort. We are praying for you. You're doing great things and changing lives.
Love you tons!
MOM
