HAPPY EASTER!
Dear Calder,
I hope you had a great Easter weekend! We missed you, but I'm sure the opportunities you had to share the gospel on Easter Sunday will be a memorable one. When I think back on my favorite Easter memories, the Easter I spent in Zurich Switzerland will always come to mind as the most memorable. I only spent one easter as a missionary. I just happened to be with my very favorite of all companions, Sister Pocock, and we were working so hard and in sync with each other and the Lord. It was really a beautiful time on my mission. I felt like I understood the purpose of Easter and had so much love for my Savior that day. It was a great feeling. I hope you wrote in your journal about your Easter...I'm sure you did!
Our girls trip in St. George was a lot of fun. We had a great time celebrating my Mom's birthday and being together. The house was awesome. It belongs to Tara Lewis. One of the funnest things we did while we were there was to go to this foot spa. It was like a super intense massage. I was just talking to Dad about it and we decided we need to do it next time we are there together. You'll love it!
We had a great Easter Sunday. We had a wonderful Sacrament Meeting with a lot of beautiful music. We did our usual Sunday morning holiday breakfast, finding baskets and headed off to church. Hunter and his girlfriend Natalia came, as did Susan and Bill and Daniel Sue. They all joined us for dinner with Grandma Ann and Jim (it was Gma Ann's bday). The backyard easter egg hunt was fun...Henry got the golden egg - $20. I loved the day.
So kind of a fun story that I heard that involves you in a way....The Linkous' always host a French exchange student every year. They fully immerse the exchange student in their family/church life which either leads to very interesting discussions or kind of "leave me alone" type of thing - typically the latter. Well, their exchange student arrived just before Easter and when they asked her where she was interested in visiting while she was in Utah, she asked if they could take her to the Family History Library and to see the Church History Museum. The Linkous' were like "ummm.....SURE!" This led to a first discussion right away and when Kit was telling her about the Book of Mormon she realized she had the French Book of Mormon in a box in the basement, The very Book of Mormon that was sent to YOU by accident just before you started home MTC. Do you remember that? For some reason you were sent all the French materials instead of Ukrainian. I didn't just want to throw away the box, so it ended up with the LInkous' and now this French exchange student. I thought that was pretty cool! So there you go....you basically gave out a French Book of Mormon this week!
Everything here seems to be going well. All the kids are so ready for the school year to end! McKay just walked out to show me his suit for prom. He looks great! It's a tan suit with a black turtleneck. We've also been working on graduation cords and all that jazz. It's bringing back tons of great memories! We had a student gov meeting for Henry last night. I wanted to give the main lady a piece of my mind about the disqualification for stickers....but I withheld, for the time being. After the meeting Henry had initiation. Tonight I went on a mtn bike ride with Gwen. We actually had a great time because we aren't as intense as some in our family. One time a mother from the CCHS mtn bike team told me that my problem with not liking mtn biking was clear....I'd been going with my husband. She told me if I wanted to like mtn biking, I needed to go with anyone else other than my husband. Jane is also doing well and has another front tooth wiggling. Pretty soon she's going to be toothless! I can't get over her cute comment about alligators from last week's conversation with you...when she said "I love alligators. They love to eat the big numbers." and then you asked what her favorite number was and she said "8! Because that's when you get baptized!" So cute!
I hope you are having a great week! The message from Bart Kunz was so sweet. I believe Dad sent it to you. I love the line about your shoes "wearing out his soles bringing souls to Christ." Keep wearing out those soles bringing souls to Christ! I am so proud of you. You are touching so many people. People are watching you even when you don't realize they are watching you. I am so proud of you. You're changing people's lives...mine included.
Love you TONS!
MOM
