The Wedding
Well, it happened. Ethan got married. We missed you like crazy! It was such a classic Ethan! First of all, he had a forest green suit. Kylee chose super earthy colors, so Ethan got into it and wore a super snazzy green suit. It was hilarious. The wedding started on Friday at 2pm. It was one of the best sealing ceremonies that I've ever been to. The sealer was one of our favorites that we've gotten to know through the years at the temple. The wedding was a little discombobulated though because we went to the temple, took pictures and then we had to wait until the next day at 2pm in Provo to celebrate. So, we went to Cafe Trang after the temple with our family and Gma, Gpa, Hunter and Tyler. Then they came over on Friday night. It was really nice of Tyler to come up for the wedding.
When we were sitting in the temple it was so strange. I was looking around wondering where everyone was. It was just me and Dad there supporting Chad and Cec...no other family members except for Gma and Gpa. It was so sad not to have Tyler or Hunter in the temple with us. I really hope they pull it together someday. The good news is that Hunter seems to be turning the corner and making some good choices. He is looking so much better. Fingers crossed that he keeps on going.
The wedding luncheon was really nice...a little long...but it was great. We heard from three of the groomsmen, two bridesmaids, two sisters, and both sets of parents. There were a lot of tributes. There was also a video message from Will, which was very sweet. But my favorite part was the video that Ethan put together of them growing up.
In between the wedding luncheon and the reception, we had to run back to send McKay and Henry off to the Sweethearts dance. They looked so great. And their dates were probably two of the highest quality girls at CCHS. Henry went with Phoebe Balfe and McKay went with Abby Brady. I think they had a great time.
We were out front taking pictures of the boys in our reception clothes and Brent Andrewsen drove by wondering if we were planning on going to the dance too. So, I snapped a picture of me and Dad that I included.
We ran back down to the reception and that was also kind of funny. The receiving line went from 5-6 and then there were games from 6-7. Yes, games. We missed the games, but we heard they were fun. Honestly, I've never been to a reception with games. Another funny thing is that the reception was supposed to go until 8pm but Ethan and Kylee called it good at 7:30 and they were out of there. Another first for me. I've never seen that before.
I think Kylee and Ethan will be very happy. Probably the best quote of the day that was said by Chad and Kylee's dad was "Kylee and Ethan match each other's weirdness and are perfect for each other." Not usually something you hear at a wedding luncheon. Haha.
I also included a picture of us with Gma and Gpa Calder at Hamilton. We gave them tickets for Christmas but the play was postponed due to COVID. It was a lot of fun to see Hamilton with them. Our seats were ok, but the play was great.
We also went to Provo on Sunday for the annual Calder super bowl party hosted by Jay and Lara. It was super fun. Always great to gather with my family. Always fun to spend time with my parents.
I bore my testimony on Sunday. We had Stake Conference the first Sunday in February, so our fast Sunday was a couple of days ago. I had recently had the chance to bear my testimony but one thing about our new ward is that there are long stretches of time and no one stands, so I took the opportunity and then felt like the weird ward lady who bears her testimony every week. Call me Ann Burmingham. But I talked a little about you and Trusting in the Lord. I spoke about how at first I was thinking that the youth have to have so much trust nowadays and I am in awe at their ability to go in faith. My thoughts have slightly changed as I have understood a little what our Heavenly Parents must be feeling as they watch our paths unfold. They may see the road ahead and know the bumps, twists and turns will be difficult but they have so much TRUST in us! They know we can do it and they cheer us on from above. It's just the way I feel for you. I know you can do it. You got this. It's not without bumps, twists and turns but you were made for it.
I love you so much! I pray for you and your name rests on the altars of the draper temple. Keep up the great work. I cannot wait to hear about your adventures tomorrow night. Keep trusting and know that our Heavenly Parents trust you to do all that has been put in your path. they know you can. You got this!
Love you TONS!
