Hello from Pineview
Calder!!!
In an effort to be a better communicator and journaler, this week I tried to journal a little each day. Here's a rundown on my week...
Monday: Henry's long awaited Adidas shoes came. Need I say more...
Tuesday: today I had the opportunity to go and do Initiatories at the oquirrh mountain temple. I haven’t done initiators for 18+ months. I don’t know if you know this about me, but I absolutely love doing initiators. I was so happy to be there! Have I also told you that each week is Temple Tuesday? I’m back at the weekly attendance and it feels so good!
Wednesday: I went to lunch with grandma Ann. We almost never go to lunch. It was just the two of us and it was so fun! On my way home from lunch, I bought a few things for your bday package and it made me really miss you! There’s been hard times with you being gone but I don’t think I was ready for the emotions I’d feel about not spending your bday with you! You know the birthday freak I am and it felt so sad to not spend it with you. I had a little cry in the car on my way home and I’m good now…at least until Sept 23rd 😂
Thursday: Today I went to mail your package and it was hilarious. I think I found the mecca of Ukrainian/Russian mafia in Utah. It’s near David’s kitchen and there’s this huge building that has a wedding venue, African shop and international market among other things. You take packages to a guy named Ahmed and pay him and somehow packages arrive in Ukraine in about 2 weeks. I’m praying that’s true because your bday package is the best and I want you to get it. Plus, your birthday is in less than THREE WEEKS!
Friday: Lunch with Ty. He was in town on a work trip and was thrilled. He gave me the low down on his dating life and guess who’s getting divorced and Ty’s pretty excited about the possibility of rekindling the romance. Yes! Kate…remember Ian? How could you forget….am I right?
Saturday: RACE DAY! It was epic. McKay’s been fighting a cold that everyone has from the super-spreader HOCO last weekend. Jane’s sick. Henry’s been sick. Dang pandemic. Nobody has an immune system anymore because we’ve been masked up and isolated. Anyway, the race was at snowbasin, which is a crazy hard race…as you know. The weather was beautiful and McKay really did well. It was a race to the finish and the guy literally passed him 😱 The race results said McKay 11th and the guy who came from behind 10th. Ugh. McKay was really hoping for 8th. Dang. But he seems in good spirits, so that’s good. Later that night we went to a steak place in Ogden to eat. All the tables were set in pioneer wagons. Henry walked in and said "I hate the Pioneer genre!"
Sunday: It was such a wonderful day! I love our callings, but Sundays at home are such huge days! Today was so low key. We visited a ward in Huntsville and almost the entire testimony meeting was taken up by the youth. It was powerful. We went to the top of Snowbasin on the gondola and ate brunch, which was a lot of fun. When we got home, I took a nap. We had CFM, made dinner and laughed a ton. It was so fun to visit with you tonight. Always a highlight!
I think you're so wise to work on unity as a zone. That will pay off big time! I will definitely pray for Elder Fetzer and his comp. It is so hard to be in a companionship that doesn't get along. I've never had it as hard as Elder Fetzer and his companion. I'm sure the new missionaries and the excitement that comes with them will be good for the mission.
Run down of pics:
1) Henry's shoes
2) Lunch date with my college friends, Jennica and Stephanie
3) One of the many, many selfies I get on my phone each week of Jane
4) Temple date with Gwen and her friends Coco Bagley, Kapri Warnock, Tori Blankenstein and Gwen
5) The beginning of the race
6) The end of the race when McKay was totally spent but Grandpa Calder wanted to talk and tell stories
7) The cheering section. Kimberly and her kids and Grandpa Jim. Everyone is so ultra supportive. We are so blessed.
8) Caught this cute shot of Jane walking with Grandpa Jim.

10) Me and Jane
I love you Calder! Keep up the great work and the awesome attitude. Tell Elder Hassin hello for us when you see him later this week. You're the best. Thank you for your amazing influence on our family and all of the blessings that are coming to us from your missionary service. Have a wonderful week. I can't wait until next Sunday to hear all about your adventures.
Love you tons!
