Top 10 Things I missed about you NOT being at LP2021: (in no particular order) 1) Watching you literally "play" behind the boat on the surfboard. You make it look so fun and easy! 2) The way you include everyone! 3) The way you are always UP for anything! 4) Bang (first year in forever since it wasn't played or even brought!) 5) No mooning 6) No one running from inside the boat and jumping off to tackle the person surfing 7) The way you jump the wake on the wakeboard and scare me to death (and break your ankles) 8) Your good music on the boat 9) Your awesome swimsuits 10) THE PIT VIPERS! The Biggest Bummers From LP 2021: (in no particular order, except for #!) 1) That you weren't there! 2) I missed not having Ethan and Will (and Chad's family in general) 3) Gpa .... no need to dewell. He was still awesome, but he's just lost and LP has always been his strong point. So good to have him there. Just hard to see the decline. 4) Not going behind the boat even ONCE to surf or wakeboard!! (insert crying face emoji) Yep...not once. Huge bummer, My arm. No need to dewell. I really wanted to SOOOO bad, but it just wasn't in the cards for me this year. The Top 10 Things I LIked about LP 2021 That Were Different Than Usual: (in no particular order) 1) Dinners every night with the Freiss' 2) Dave and Melinda's family staying with us on Canyon Vista 3) Tons more interaction with the Freiss' 4) THE WEATHER!! I loved it hot! 5) THE WATER!! It was 82 degrees....not even kidding! Best ever! 6) The way Dad took charge and rocked it! He's the best and so capable. Usually people look to Chad, but Dad did an awesome job! 7) Being in closer quarters with Gma and Gpa...there were pluses and minuses but overall, it was awesome being on the same houseboat. 8) Having Maddie without her family. She was a dream come true. I am SO glad she came! 9) The overall scenery was absolutely beautiful! Wth the water so low, the beaches, rocks and scenery was at its finest! 10) Seeing a heard of big horn sheep was pretty epic. 11) (bonus one that I had to add)....Hunter coming an extra day early!!! Tuesday night arrival. 12) (another BONUS!!)....almost NO WIND!!! 13) (maybe this will get to top 15?) No adjusting the ropes!! 14) No one got hurt! 15) Swimming with EVERYONE!! Yes, even Gma Susan!! Kathleen!!! And Howard!! It was a ton of fun! All 32 of us in the water at once. Well...hopefully those lists and the pictures will give you a small glimpse into the trip but not enough to make you sad. Probably the best picture taken and my favorite is the one with Maddie and Gpa. Best quote to go with the picture is the one of Henry and McKay flexing and Henry telling me that the biggest compliment he got over and over at LP was how big his pecks are. I threw in a couple of pics of Dad for Father's Day. We came home, unpacked, put stuff away and were STARVING!! We made breakfast for dinner. It hit the spot! And we gave Dad another Apple Watch. Haha. It was awesome to see you today! Such a big week. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm reading a really great book right now and thought about sharing this excerpt from it with you. It's from President Ezra Taft Benson explaining the "inside out" phenomenon: "The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums out of people, and then they take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then charge their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature...Yes, Christ changes men, and changed men can change the world." The woman who shared this "inside out" phenomenon went on to explain in the book that her daughter Hannah, who actually served in the Dallas, Texas mission, found this principle to be true when she went back with her parents to visit her mission nine months after she returned home. When they tried to track down her new converts, they had a hard time finding them. They no longer lived in the places they had lived when Hannah found them and taught them the gospel. Those who were living in underprivileged parts of town had moved to more respectable areas. Those who had lived in apartments, had purchased homes. In almost every situation, each of these individuals had bettered their circumstances by being baptized. Christ had taken the slums out of the people, so to speak, and then they had taken themselves out of the slums. I thought about those you have been teaching. It's clear how the gospel changes lives. I love this concept about it being from the inside out! Keep on assisting those you love with the "inside out" phenomenon and let's picture what Cornelius' or Lincoln's or anyone else's circumstance might be when we visit them once you return home. The gospel makes us better in so many ways. What great news!! I hope you slept well. Love you so much! I'm so proud of you. You're doing great things and changing lives...especially mine! Love you tons! MOM
