It was a great bday week!
Calder!!!!!
It was such a great week! The highlight being the call from you!!’ Here’s some highlights:
On Tuesday night we went to see Les Miserable. It was more than fantastic. I loved so much about it. My two favorite parts were 1) when Javier jumps from the bridge and 2) when Jean Val Jean dies. The bridge part was fantastic because he jumps from the bridge that suspended in the air and falls to a padded something deep down that the audience can’t see. And I’ve never seen the death of Jean Val Jean portrayed that way...the bishop welcomes him and it feels so much like the savior welcoming him into heaven. Our seats were fabulous and it was so fun to have both grandparents with us. It was our fathers/mothers day gifts. I missed you because I feel like you are my child who likes going to the theater the most.
Wednesday night we had our annual missionary activity for the YM/YW. Here’s Marty Harris living his best life. His message was very endearing. It was that if you are obedient, you have a the recipe for a successful mission. I agree.
Jane graduated from kindergarten. Farewell to kindergarten got me! She was so touched by the end of the year video in class that she cried. Such a sweet, tender BUT spicy!
I snapped this picture as we left for school on her last day. It was kind of a big deal.
Then we went to dinner at zupas (her request) to celebrate. Again...kind of a big deal.
This was seriously the yummiest egg white omelette that sad made for me in all our years! The big day started out so fun!
This birthday lunch was such a special memory. I was so surprised to see Mark and Shannon! I loved every minute being together with everyone.
Friday was also Gwen”s graduation from Jack elementary school. She has had Mrs. Asay this year and it’s been a great year! She still has a week left of school but he did some celebrating on Friday as well!
One of the mini great birthday presents I receive what is this cute don’t wanna invite Jane. It says “you do not now (know) how much I love you” I find out like this all of her lately! She is quite an artist and loves to write notes.
I don’t have a picture of our dinner at tsunami, but it was a total highlight! Everybody was so sweet with their comments to me. And opening presents together was also super fun. I totally got some great things!
On Saturday morning the Simmons family came over to swim and Ryan helped me with this wall in the young women’s room. We were super hard putting up the scripture. It’s a great one! This is the theme this year for young men’s/ women’s. Ryan is an amazing, talented person. I was super grateful for his help! Plus I had a lot of fun hanging out with him!
The reason why we were working so hard on Saturday on getting that scripture on the wall was that today, Sunday, was the first day back in young women’s in person! It was awesome! We didn’t even have to wear masks! It was the best feeling. After church today, Gwen was set apart as a second counselor in the younger class presidency. She’s so excited! She will do amazing job! She also sang in church today. She did an amazing job. She sang “she put the music in me” with Eden Linkous And it was a real tearjerker. She was so nervous and I was so proud of her for putting herself out there and doing hard things!
Today we had grandma and grandpa Horsley’s over for Sunday dinner. It was fun to be with them. We ended up pulling up pictures from our cruise in 2014. We laughed and laughed and laughed as we looked at the pictures together! Mainly because McKay it’s so hilarious in so many pictures! I thought I’d send this picture online for laughs. It made me miss those good old days. We had a lot of fun on that cruise together! I’m so glad we took the opportunity to do that when we did! You looked a lot like Owen and some of these pictures! I’m not sure if it was the flat brim hat or what?
I’ve ended this birthday week feeling immensely grateful for the many blessings that I have! I’m humbled by what I’ve been given. And I’ve been thinking that I should have a word this year, until my next birthday, to help me work harder, do a little bit more, and be a little bit better. The word that keeps coming to me is unstoppable. I feel like after breaking my arm and struggling these past three weeks, that being unstoppable is pretty important. It’s easy to get down when things don’t go your way and you don’t feel well. Lucky for me that’s not been too often in my lifetime. It’s also important to remember that it’s just for a time and not to lose all the good habits that you’ve built just because you’re not feeling well. Anyway, I think that’s my word for the next year birthday. I will be unstoppable! Nothing will get in my way! Please put an awesome example of that to me during your mission time! I appreciate the way you’ve been unstoppable. You are amazing! I’m so excited to talk tomorrow. Thank you for your sweet words on my birthday. I will never forget it! I love you so much! Make it a great week and continue to be unstoppable!
Love you tons!
MOM ❤️
PS; tomorrow I get my new tooth! I am so excited. My current tooth looks so gross! It’s totally black at the top. I hope my tooth is doing OK underneath. I’ll have to report back when we talk. My appointments at 2 PM. I hope that doesn’t mess up when we talk tomorrow. Keep in touch!
