Happy Easter!
Dear Calder,
I loved your Easter message! What a thrill. Thank you for the spirit you brought us tonight BUT OH MY GOODNESS, the time FLEW by!!!! Can’t wait to talk tomorrow.
It’s been a fun, busy week getting off and making some decisions on the upstairs house project. Our bids came back in and we are about double than our budget...so, back to the drawing board....
Our plane left crazy early on Saturday morning for our trip...5:45am departure from our house to be exact. We stuffed in the car with grandma and grandpa and all our stuff (the Thule was a must) and got to the airport with just enough time not to sweat. EVERYBODY and their dog was there...seriously. It was crazy busy. We got here just great. We have a 15 passenger van (hah). The place we are staying is beautiful, the weather is a little cool, but it will be nice and relaxing. Easter was fun. To be honest, I am a little bummed that we missed so much of conference. I feel like I got about 20% of the spiritual renewal that I was hoping for. However, the best part was that we studied October conference 2020 in our book group this month and had an amazing discussion on Thursday night before we left, which really helped prepare me for conference. I loved it. Dad made a great quote that listening to conference over and over helped peal down the layers that we need to really absorb all that is talked about. I look forward to doing that with this conference!
Some of my pictures are of the Easter egg hunt, a sticker on a truck that made me laugh and think of you, me and Gwen on our flight, a visit from our favorite Jake Gordon - such a great kid, cute Gwen in my sunglasses, some shorts from a Tillys shopping outing for Henry that I didn’t mean to include but can’t delete, and the cutest Easter bunny in 2021!
I’m sure you caught that Clark was made a General Authority. That’s so cool. I don’t really know all that entails but he said he’s excited to give us the low down later this week. All I know is that whatever Clark touches turns to gold. He and christine and their family will do great.
I have to mention on a totally different note that we were at a restaurant on this trip where super classic rock songs were playing. I kept singing along in my head and looking for someone to talk to or quiz about the songs. I was missing you SO much! You’re kind of my ONLY music buddy. Finally, a classic Prince song came on “dearly beloved...we are gathered here today...” you know the one...”let’s go crazy” and I asked Henry if he had any idea who sang the song. Nope. “Absolutely no idea.” (Knotting Hill LOL) Then McKay came back to the table and I said “please tell me you know who Prince is!” He said he didn’t but then kind of thought he did after I told him he really needed to do a better job at knowing what good music is and that I need someone to geek out about music with when Calder isn’t around. Needless to say, you have been sorely missed in all sorts of ways lately!!!
On another random note, Dad got a super sweet message from Elder Gregerson’s mom today. I’m thinking that your comp comes from a great family. It was very kind of her to take the time to write and say so many nice things about you. Dad will have to share it with you.
I’m anxious to hear all about your week. We are in the same time zone as you (yay) and have anytime to visit when it wor ks for you tomorrow. Hope it’s been a great week. I loved conference as a missionary. It’s just such a great way to get filled up after giving so much to others. How amazing it is to be alive right now in the church! And to be led by a living prophet!! We’re you dying as much as me with all the temple announcements? I was all teary but got it together and Henry asked if I’d been crying. I didn’t really answer and Dad said it so well “Mom just loves temple!” And I do. It’s one of my favorite parts of conference to hear how many temples are being built, the new announcements and that temples will reopen one day soon. I miss the temple something fierce. I can’t wait to go again regularly! I can’t wait to go again with you!! You know that your name will rest on the alter of the draper temple every day of your mission!
Love you tons!!! Keep up the GREAT work! I’m so stinkin’ proud of you❤️😘
MOM
