Transfers....
So, I'm on pins and needles....and I've been praying a ton for you this week that you'd be able to be in an area where you can baptize two people and that you will be able to understand the WHY behind what happens. Can't wait to hear.
Well...I'm still on cloud nine STILL from our conversation last week. It was the best to talk to you and learn from your wisdom. Honestly, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the words and scriptures you shared.
The week was fast and furious. Tuesday I went skiing
with Kimberly, Christine, Dad and my brother Scott who was in town for his spring break. Jay couldn't come because of work but we named it "national sibling ski day" and plan to make it a thing. It wasn't my favorite type of ski day. The visibility was really bad and it was crunchy snow but I loved the people I was skiing with! We skied at snowbird and it was fun to be on at that resort again.
Sophia brought Jaina and Liam up from Arizona for their spring break too. We were anxious to see Tyler but wanted to make it on our terms. He just seems to "pop" in and it's really hard because we don't just have the time to drop everything. He "popped" in on Monday just before your call and I was seriously bugged. I need to do better and not get bugged by people being inconsiderate but this week was such a busy week and I kind of feel like Tony's family thinks that because he works from home, that they can just drop by and it's no big deal. Or that because i don't have a job, I'm just here waiting to hang out. Anyway, it all turned out ok and we had everyone over on Wednesday for dinner. I hope this doesn't sound super complainy, but it's just more of a classic story.... So, we told Ty to come between 5-5:30pm for dinner on Wednesday. Sure enough...around 2:15pm I got a call and Ty was at Draper Park with his kids and wanted to come play in the backyard until the dinner gathering. I was like "What??? Play in our backyard for 3 hours?" and just remember that our yard literally has nothing in it except a frozen pool. Not to mention that I wasn't home and none of the kids were home. Those types of things just baffle me sometimes. But seeing Chad's family and Hunter and Ty's family was fun. Gma and Gpa were in Arizona, so we didn't get to have them with us.
Thursday we had a special fireside to "kick off' the youth conference. It was a lady named Laura Welsch. She was great. Kind of a comedian/EFY speaker. Gwen LOVED the fireside. The Montegues (Big Kahuna) were in charge of the youth conference. They worked really hard to get things set up and flew people in for the conference. They didn't skimp at all and it made it extra special.
We left for the conference on Friday morning at 11am. Jane and Gwen spent the two days and one night at Gma and Gpa Horsley's house. They had a great time. I was in charge of the service project and get to know you games. I actually stumbled upon a great service project by calling around Coalville (which was where the cabin was that we stayed) and the fire department had us come clean fire engines. It was pretty fun. We got a tour of the firehouse after and the fireman had Henry come and try on all the gear. It was hilarious because he was so uncomfortable and hot. I was laughing so hard. And there's also a totally inappropriate picture of McKay and Henry with the firehose...thought you might like that. After the service project, we got up to the cabin, which was awesome, and played games, ate dinner, had a breakout session with Sister Welsch and played some awesome games outside. Dad was a rockstar, as usual, and organized and picked up all the equipment that we needed - fat bikes, cross country skis, snow shoes and a spot light for a super fun game that we played outside in the snow called spotlight. Apparently the Paulsen's play this game at Lake Powell in the water at night. You try to get from one point to another in the pitch dark without getting caught by the light. It was a lot of fun.
Saturday we had a winter olympics with all the gear Dad brought up. It was fun. We also had a pie throwing station at the bishop. It was a hit. The entire day was spent playing outside and doing these games. It was kind of funny and a little obnoxious because the girls were so interested in hanging out with the boys but the boys were so uninterested in hanging out with the girls! I was slightly dying and embarrassed for the girls. I'm not sure why they are so weird. I definitely sympathized with the young men. The girls (lead by Lori Paulsen) went over to the boy's cabin at 3;30 am to scare them. The boys were asleep and so annoyed the next day. I just don't really get into these things....whatever.
I think the best part of the youth conference was a speaker who came up on Saturday night and talked about Joseph Smith. We were so tired and I figured everyone would be sleeping as he spoke. It was the best Joseph Smith talk I've ever heard. He kept everyone so engaged - even Matthew Camacho! He told stories about Joseph Smith and the spirit was just so strong. It was something that everyone needed to feel. It is so interesting how the older I get the harder it is to talk about Joseph Smith in the world but the deeper my love for Joseph Smith becomes. I am loving the Doctrine and Covenants this year. It is powerful to study. I am learning so much.
Today started early with daylight savings! Nothing like staying up all night for youth conference and then waking up an hour early for church because of daylight savings - haha! We made it though! And because Scott was in town, we went to Provo to celebrate Pie Day (3.14) and have a family dinner. Kimberly of course brought the pies, which were delicious! It was fun to see everyone. James brought Erin. The coolest part of the day was the two hours before the dinner when my siblings and I piled in my car with Gma and Gpa and drove all over Provo and recorded them as part of a family history project. It was so fun to go to sights in Provo and hear their stories. We stopped at my Grandma Christopherson's house and the people let us inside to walk around. It brought back so many memories! I'm super glad that we had this opportunity. I loved being with them and this will really be a treasure as the years go on.
Well, that pretty much sums up the pics I'm sending and the week. There was another winner of a pic that I took on Monday night. I caught Dad sitting by Henry being totally disgusted with the way Henry was eating his rice. it's a great laugh.
Love you so much. Keep up the great work. You're doing great things. And never forget how much we all love you! And miss you! And I LOVED the Elder Schrute pictures last week. You're the best!
Love you tons!
MOM :)
