“Oh My Son, Remember…” – Letters to Calder on His Mission

It's been a great week! And I have tons of pictures to share. I'll give you a quick run down...and work backwards throughout the week.... One of the many highlights was having James and Paige up for dinner tonight. James brought the girl that he's been dating. Her name is Erin. She's great. Very impressive. Has a full time job at McKinsey Dallas when she graduates. Plays LAX at BYU. It was really fun to get to know her. It's funny to see James so lovey. I think you'd like her. And I think it's likely they get married. I don't know when and James hates pressure, so we will see. It was super fun to visit with Paige. She is just awesome. I love talking with her. She's killing it at BYU and doing so well in her program. We also had Grandma and Grandpa Horsley here for dinner. It's an amazing blessing to have them so close and get to spend time together. I mean...the damage I'm seeing is for REAL! Wow! I am so excited to hear more details from you tomorrow. What a crazy turn of events in Texas. I hope you've weathered the storm and have had opportunities to serve and help those around you. As far as the Draper Horsley clan goes...everyone seems to be doing well.. McKay got his ACT score back this week. He did great and I am super proud of him. He took it without much studying. We never pulled the BYU ACT study class together and when I finally got in touch with Cara, so encouraged us to sign up for the February 6th date, even though it was just a couple of weeks away. McKay met with Cara a handful of times and got a 32. I think he feels good about it. I'll send a pic of his score breakdown. Now we just need to get him on the BYU bandwagon. He's pulling a bit of the Calder "BYU is kind of dumb" thing right now. I think he'll figure it out... Henry is keeping things upbeat and silly. He...

Happy Superbowl Sunday! Was it weird to not watch? DId you catch any glimpses? We went to Provo and Jay and Lara threw their usual awesome party with waaay too much food. I'm including a picture I took. There were decorations and all the superbowl food you could ask for. We missed you and Toph! The week was fast and furious! I'm sure you saw the picture of McKay's gnarly scar when we went to get his hard cast at the doctor's office after we spoke last week. McKay has been trying to be careful...so much that he's decided not to go to Newport with Lance over president's day. We are all kind of bummed about that but we spoke to the doctor very openly about some of McKay's upcoming things and the doctor just was honest that McKay needs to keep himself out of situations that tempt him to be an active 17 year old boy. He told McKay that he could go to Newport but that he had to act like a 40 year old woman in the ocean and not surf. Anyway, he took the inf...
